The school of physical science and technology relies on the most important discipline in Zhejiang Province (2009), the first-class discipline in Zhejiang Province (Class A) (2016), the peak discipline of key construction University of Zhejiang Province (2016), the existing Doctor's degree programs in Physics，Master's degree programs in Physics (including theoretical physics, condensed matter physics, optics, solid state electronic physics and Optoelectronics) and the second level of quantum information and communication Doctor's point.

学院下设物理系和微电子科学与工程系，本科专业有物理学（基地班）、微电子科学与工程、科学教育等三个专业。微电子科学与工程入选浙江省新兴特色专业、宁波市一流专业，物理学入选宁波市重点专业。 现建有浙江省物理实验教学重点示范中心、宁波市纳米材料重点实验室，现有实验仪器总值3400余万元，其中大型仪器100万以上7台套、40万元21台套。
